Ingredients

3 cups flour

1 tsp. salt

1 Tbs. sugar

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. ground cumin

2 Tbs. melted butter

2/3 cup plain yogurt

1/2 cup water

peanut oil for frying

Preparation

In a large bowl whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and cumin.

Into the bowl stir the melted butter, yogurt and water until a dough forms.

Remove the dough to a floured surface and knead about 10 minutes.

Place the dough back into the bowl, cover and let rest 10 minutes.

In a large saute pan or wok, add a few inches of peanut oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 375 on a deep-fry thermometer.

Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/8-inch and cut out 2-inch rounds.

Carefully place the pieces into the oil (in batches) and deep-fry until golden.
