Ingredients

4 tsp canola oil

1 cup chopped onion

1.5 cup water

1 cup ketchup

2/3 cup light brown sugar

2/3 cup cider vinegar

1/4 cup unsulfured molasses

2 tbl worchestershire sauce

2 tbl instant coffee powder

2 tsp prepared mustard

2 tsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp ground cinamon

1/4 tsp ground red pepper

Preparation

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Whisk in water and remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil, stirring constantly. Lower heat and simmer about 30 minutes or until reduced to 3 cups. Can be made up to 5 days ahead of time.
