Ingredients

2 c. flour

3/4 c. cocoa

1 1/4 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 c. butter

1 3/4 c. sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/3 c. water

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Grease & flour two round cake pans.

Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Beat butter and sugar on high speed of mixer until very fluffy. Add eggs one at a time until they are just incorporated. Add vanilla.

Beat in flour mixture alternating with water; beginning and ending with the flour mixture.

Pour batter into the two pans and bake at 350° F. for approx. 40 minutes.
