Ingredients

BASE:

2 squares semi-sweet chocolate

1/2 C. butter (at room temp.)

2 Tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 egg

2 C. graham wafer crumbs

1 C. flaked coconut

1/2 C. chopped walnuts

FILLING:

2 Tbsp. custard powder

3 Tbsp. milk

1/4 C. butter (at room temp.)

2 C. icing sugar

GLAZE:

4 squares semi-sweet chocolate

1 Tbsp. butter

Preparation

BASE:

  1. In a double boiler, melt butter and chocolate (over hot water, but never touching the hot water).
  2. Once melted, add sugar, vanilla and egg; mix well.
  3. Add graham wafer crumbs, coconut & walnuts; mix well.
  4. Press into 9" square pan. Chill.

FILLING:

  1. Combine custard powder and milk. Add butter.
  2. Beat in icing sugar until smooth.
  3. Spread over the chilled base, & chill for 15 more minutes.

GLAZE:

  1. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate & butter over hot water.
  2. Spread over the already chilled base and custard layer. Chill. Cut into bars.

Freezes and thaws well.
