Ingredients
4 quarts sliced cucumbers
1/2 cup salt
2 quarts of sliced onions
1 quart vinegar
4 cups sugar
1 tbsp celery seeds
2 tbsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground turmeric (optional)
1/2 tsp ground white pepper
Preparation
- Gently stir salt and cucumbers. Add ice cubes and let stand 2 - 3 hours until crisp and cold. Drain and add onions.
- Mix remaining ingredients together in separate pot. Bring to boil.
- Pack cucumbers into jars.
- Pour boiling pickling syrup into jars. Seal. Process in hot water bath for 15 minutes.
