Ingredients

3/4 c butter, shortened

1/4 c shortening

3/4 c sugar

3/4 c firmly packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 1/4 c all purpose-flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

2 c (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate morsels (nestle is best)

Preparation

Beat butter and shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugars, beating well after each addition. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, soda, and salt; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in choc chips. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 for 9 to 11 minutes. Cool cookies slightly on baking sheets; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
