Ingredients

5 Cups Flour

1 Cup Crisco

2 Large Eggs (beaten)

2 Cups Sugar

1 Tablespoon Water

1 Cup Sour Milk

1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Soda

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

1 Teaspoon Anice

Optional: Your choice of chopped fruits.

Preparation

Cream the Crisco, sugar, beaten eggs and water. Next blend in the vanilla, anise, flour, baking soda and sour milk.

Form into small loafs about 4 inches by 12 inches.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and bake for 20 minutes on a greased pan. Let cool.

Slice into one-inch widths, lightly toast on a cookie sheet in a warm oven and serve with a cup of freshly brewed espresso.
