Ingredients

1 ¾ c. unsifted all-purpose flour

2 c. sugar

¾ c. unsweetened cocoa

2 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

2 eggs

1 c. strong black coffee [2 tsp. instant coffee granules w/ 1 c. boiling water]

*I typically just use boiling water for this part-makes a great basic chocolate cake

1 c. buttermilk or sour milk [1 tbsp. vinegar plus 1 c. milk]

½ c. vegetable oil

1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in large mixer bowl. Add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla and beat 2 minutes on medium speed [batter will be very thin!].

Pour into greased and floured 13x9 pan or two 9 in. pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
