Ingredients

Marinade

1 tablespoon dark soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Bold Basil Beef

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 small shallot, thinly sliced into rings

1 jalapeno chili, thinly sliced into rings

1/2 cup lightly packed Thai basil or 1/2 cup regular basil

Preparation

Marinade: Combine ingredients in a medium bowl. Add beef and stir to coat. Let stand for 10 minutes,.

Beef: Place a stir-fry pan over high heat until hot. Add oil, swirling to coat sides.

Add shallot and chili; cook. stirring until fragrant, about 20 seconds. Add beef and stir-fry until barely pink in center, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Remove pan from heat and stir in basil leaves.

Serve immediately.
