Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

2 eggs, unbeated

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup sifted all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon soda

1 cup shredded coconut, toasted

1 cup rolled oats, toasted

Preparation

Combine shortening, sugars, eggs, salt, and vanilla and beat thoroughly. Sift flour and soda together; add to first mixture with coconut and oats and mix well. Drop level tablespoons of dough on greased baking sheets. Bake in moderate oven (350°F) 10-15 minutes.
